Stoop is a neighborhood guide for Chicago and Ann Arbor. This policy covers the Stoop mobile app and this website, and explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how to make us delete it. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not run advertising.

1. What we collect

Only what the app needs to work:

We do not collect your precise device location. Neighborhoods are chosen by you from a list, not detected from where your phone is.

2. Why we collect it

To show you your neighborhood rather than everyone's: your saved stories, follows, and home neighborhood decide what appears on your Today screen. Reports and mutes let us keep the guide usable. Your email lets you sign in and lets us reach you about the service.

In short: everything above exists so the app can show you the right block. None of it is used to build an advertising profile, and none of it is sold.

3. Who else sees it

Stoop runs on Amazon Web Services, which stores this data on our behalf. The website and its waitlist run on Railway. Those two providers are the only companies that hold your personal information for us.

We may disclose information if the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect someone's safety.

4. Content from other publishers

Stoop links out to local news outlets, venues, and ticketing sites. When you open one of those links you are on that publisher's site, under their privacy policy, not ours. We do not pass them anything about you, but they may collect their own data once you arrive.

5. Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account from inside the app, which removes your profile, saved stories, follows, mutes, and submitted posts. To leave the website waitlist, email us and we will remove your address.

In short: deleting your account deletes your data. If you would rather we did it for you, email hello@stoop.co and we will confirm when it is done.

6. Children

Stoop is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

7. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that materially affects you, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where it matters, tell you in the app.

8. Contact
